Sakarai Pongal , mainly done for Pooja.


Raw rice -1 small cup | moong dhal -1/4 cup : Bengal gram dhal -1 tsp : jaggery -2 cups : cashew nuts - 5 : dry grapes :6 :Ghee :3 tsp : dry ginger powder : 1/8 tsp : cardamon powder : 1/8 tsp : raw cooking camphor - 1/2 pinch


Dry roast moong dhal for a minute.Put rice moong dhal, gram dhal together,wash and soak for 45 minutes.In 4 1/2 cups of water cook for 4 whistles.Put crushed jaggery along 1/2 cup water and boil for 3 minutes until it melts.Add 1/2 tsp Ghee in it.Mash the cooked rice, add filtered jaggery water, mix well.Keep in low flame,put dry ginger and cardamon powders,and cooking camphor .In Aa tsp ghee Fry cashew and dry grapes, add this to Pongal. Switch off,and add 2 tsp of ghee .
Note : Use the same cup for all measurements.Don`t put more cooking camphor..just 1/2 pinch..
